what we drank, day four

the gin and tonic. served in a glass which, according to both eg & big daddy, was not appropriate, but i wanted it anyway. it seemed perfect for a classic drink. the recipe calls for equal parts gin and tonic (though i am positive big daddy has leadfoot with the gin), a slice of lime, and crushed ice. parental balloonas' g&t has fresh squeezed lime in it as well, and must only be made with canada dry's tonic water. very refreshing! very summery! one day, r & i would like to have a vintage bar cart stocked with only the classiest bottles. and i would like to refer to them as classy. the bombay sapphire bottle would definitely be one of them. tanqueray also. jack daniels. they wouldn't even need to be brands we would enjoy-- sailor jerry spiced rum is in, far as i'm concerned-- they just have to be of a certain style. we have talked about this at length while wandering around the liquor store. i swear we do other things, too. three drinks to go...

  1. Oh, dear! You are making me jealous! Bombay or Tanquarray and Tonic are my favorites! And I still have two more months left! Makes me miss the little drinks. Never drink it without the lime though, just not the same!

  2. Hmmmm I don't like gin&tonic. Bad teenage karma there...
I didn't tested a beer today. But I will go to previous experience Cab Lemon & Beer. Is nice but nothing exceptional. It says flavoured with dragon fruit. Sounds cool but I still don't get the flavour of a dragon fruit...

  3. Truly, you are a drinker after my own heart. G&T's are such my summer drink - that is, when I can actually drink them.

    Bottoms up!

  5. We have a vintage bar cart, and it makes me so happy. I stumbled upon it at a random junk shop in Boston, and it's the coolest. It's actually an old hotel bar on wheels, and the top opens up, as well as having a ton of storage underneath. It definitely classes up the living room.

  6. I've got to find a bar cart like that, Mick. It sounds like just the ticket. All my liquor in one user friendly location. Drinks on wheels! It's sounds like 'Good Humor' for adults!

  7. Hmm Oona I meant I tasted G6T a bit too much as a teeny - a very memorable (that I don't remember) moment of my life is connected to that. So now I get the creeps just by the taste of gin. Maybe another 10 years and the karma is gone...

  8. A gin and tonic is good, but I do love a gin gimlet. They're best shaken and served straight up to temper the Rose's lime juice some, but I'm usually too lazy and drink them on the rocks. As SOON as it turns 5:00.

  9. Oh I never drank a gin gimlet. Wasn't there a famous detective drinking Gimlets all the time...
This I can imagine to try... With no importance how late it is...
