undismayed!

on this gray and rainy day
this is just a note to say
i'll be joining me-made-may
but mainly on instagram.

instagram doesn't rhyme with much, does it?  at least, my brain isn't coming up with a match at the moment-- i've spent the day off, per doctor's orders, as i managed to catch my second cold-ish-ick-ish plague on the bolt bus.  a highly enjoyable day, however! the constant sideways rain outside our windows made it even easier to keep my ass put and create an archive of garments for the blog (coming soon!).  my lovely lady doc also said i was a healthy young woman  and saw no reason to irradiate me  because xrays can be inconclusive and antibiotics don't work half the time and anyway what you need is sleep and the best cough syrup is a tablespoon of honey and a shot of tequila.

MY KIND OF DOCTOR.  SIGN ME UP.

(for those civilians who are wondering what the hell me-made-may is, and who will no doubt eye my instagram feed in confusion, basically it's a challenge to wear your handmade items out.  in the past i've signed up for three days a week, this year i'm going for something me-made on my person every day.  that's challenge enough for me as i never know who i'll have to be...)

are you in?

  5. Hope you feel better soon! I'm thinking I'm going to take the IG approach too, since my schedule is generally whacked and I have a better shot at good lighting and cooperative photography assistants if I use my phone.

    1. ha! yes, that's what i'm hoping for-- evidence that takes no more than 5 minutes! last time i set up a little dedicated space where i knew the light would be good and set a timer. of course, last time i was in a gorgeous house in LA.

  9. shush...I'm in...but I'm trying to be a little bit quiet about it, at least in the beginning. I have a knack for doing the exact opposite of what I either pledge, intend, or otherwise broadcast!

    1. SAME WAY. in fact i wouldn't announce it unless it wasn't part of the "rules" (altho i'm sure zoe wouldn't mind either way)

  10. I think Me Made May would be better for me if I could arrange to go out for cocktails a couple times a week to wear all my snazzy dresses!
Good for you on this challenge, I look forward to seeing what you do on your Instagram feed

  11. If you can find the Chinese cold remedy "Ganmaoling" (It can sometimes be found in Chinese grocery stores) it REALLY WORKS against colds.3 pills, 3 times a day.

  16. Get well soon. Looking forward to your me made may outfits - you could have had tram, spam, and damn, although I don't think the poem would have been as good.

  17. Hey Oona, as long as you don't confuse your cough medicine with Jack Daniel for a couple of days, you'll be fine in no time I'm sure. I bet you will also look utterly fabulous throughout May.

  18. Get well soon. Keep taking the medicine!

  19. Get well soon, gorgeous. Your Doc is right, honey and alcohol will kill most nasty germs!

  20. I hope you feel better soon. This sounds like a fun challenge unfortunately I do not have enough me-made outfits to last a month so I will be a ghost participant by going weekly.

  21. Ah! MMM for 3 days a week is a grand idea. I havent committed yet because my handmade stash is pretty low, but maybe I can manage 3 a week... Thanks for the inspiration! And feel better lady!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Yes!
I want to do this. I just need to figure out how much to commit myself. I thought about it back in March (I was a little confused), but then forgot about it until just now and went, "Shoot!! It's May!!" I'm good for today though, I have 2 me-made items on and will photograph when I get home.
Thanks for the reminder. I am semi-new to your site and loving it!

  23. "What butter or Whiskey won't cure cannot be cured" Irish proverb. Hoping you're mostly better by now, and good luck on your personal challenge of "Me Made May"! :) Will be knocking back a couple of Gin "germkillers" tonight in your honour... ;)

  24. I'm a virgin no mo! I signed up for MMM for the first time, committing to 2 garments a week, which is doable for me. Hells yeh!

  25. My Mom gave me a shot of whiskey whenever I had a cough/cold and damn if it sure did make that sh*t go away fast! I take a shot of apple cider vinegar a day and haven't been sick in ages. Makes me gag, but it's all good. LOLOL I like your challenge, I will sign up to wear one thing a week but people will give me the ugly eye here in Edwardian England---oh well, I never was one for conventional behaviour.

  26. Good luck with MMM! I stress out having to take daily photos, but Instagram is the perfect way to document it! For making Instagram rhyme up top you could cheat and say "Instagray'm". Well, maybe that's dumb haha.
