my featherweight can sew ANYTHING

most interesting google search that lead four people to this blog:

"my elbows are dark."

okay.  c'est true.  they are.  so are my knees.  i'm currently employing a salt scrub twice a day in an effort to annihilate a layer of skin on the pointy parts of my limbs.  (and if the four of you out there found a solution that doesn't involve bleach, let a girl know, 'kay?)

other peeps with an eye on this blog: some wicked weather fairies.  temperatures dropped 20 degrees after i mouthed off about poolside shoots.  sorry los angeles, my bad.  we had a chilly valentine's day with roast chicken and buffy the vampire slayer.  last night, after a two-and-a-half-hour sixteen mile drive (truly, i was certain i would never see the outside of a car again), i arrived home to the scent of rosemary and thyme drenched in chicken fat, and my featherweight had been decorated with tulips and chocolates.  shortly after, my man was decorated in a da beard hat, which he hasn't taken off since last night.

i hope you had a wonderful valentine's day!

  1. Hahah Google search terms are the funniest part of blogging! My personal favorite was the 2 people who found my blog by searching for "boobs in wool." wtf?

I wish my Featherweight would get decorated with tulips and chocolates! You lucky lady!

  2. some peeps stopping by yesterday were after "defectological handmade toys"
not as sophisticated as dark elbows or wool boobs, i know..

  3. that is a great valentine's day post! what could be better than coming home, finding your man all hot and busy in the kitchen, and he decorated your featherweight?

  4. EGAD, THE TRAFFIC!!! My eight-mile commute used to be anywhere between 7 minutes (what? I like to drive fast!) and an hour, depending on the day. YUCK. I gave up and moved even closer to work.

As far as search terms go, I have two words for you: Ginger. Crotch. Obviously I didn't think things through when I chose my blog name. Yeh...

    1. that is AWESOME. the crotch thing, not the traffic. the traffic is mind numbing.

  5. Your Featherweight looks extra-pretty covered in chocolate!
Hehe, I kept getting searches for 'how to faint easily' (poor sad people...) after a post with the word 'faint' in the title! It was actually on how to remove a spot of blood after you pricked your finger with one of those nasty pins, so I'm glad they didn't find what they were looking for!

  7. "short hair with sideburns for women" Can I cry now? Also, looks like someone was googling my sister. She'll just love that.

  8. Southern California traffic really is the worst thing of all time. I'm glad you had a good Valentine's Day though.

  9. omg. that does sound like a mind numbing drive! And what a lovely Valentine's Day surprise! :)

  10. Roast chicken & buffy could make any day amaaaaazing! I am cracking up reading people's best Google search terms! Give me more! Unfortunately mine always seem to be quite normal, but today I got "lots of frosting", which made me quite proud.

  11. Yum, truffles, flowers *and* chicken! Your man is awesome. :)

  12. Ah, yes-- MANY people have visited my blog in search of "crotchless riding pants" after my post on my altered leggings.

    Your man did well!

  13. Dunno WHAT happened to my comment I left earlier.... I had advice re dark or scaly skin on elbows- after you've juiced a lemon, put the two halves on a table and insert your elbow, sit there awhile. If that sounds unappealing, I use paulas choice AHA body lotion on my elbows when they get scaly.

Your valentines day sounds lovely! and is making me crave a roast chicken. we didn't do much, as simon's birthday is 2 days before and that's the bigger deal. We just watched a whole lotta Downton Abbey.

My recent search term traffic: "free panty pattern" and "wine slushee"

    1. happy belated simon!!!

okay, i'm trying the aha! lemon combo because you are the Queen Of Excellent Skin, and because i'm pretty sure i'll need to attack from all ends.

oh god; your search terms... that is brilliant.

  14. Nice, looks like you had a good V-day. Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving such positive comments on my yourstylerocks contest entries. No I didn't enter the raglan sleeved dress maybe I should. BTW I didn't come here looking for elbows but would recommend lashings of a good foot cream (and a long sleeved tee) before bed/ after showering. The most fantastic one I've ever come across is Himalaya Herbals Foot care cream http://www.himalayausa.com/Organique/footcare/foot-care.htm
I can't see any checkout info there but it might be because I'm in Australia and its a US site. They also have an EU site and store locator/list of stockists on there...
BTW wordpress and openid commenting isn't working on your blog (which means typepad etc probably aren't either) you might want to install discus so people can keep their identities instead of having to type in all their info into the name/URL option..

    1. thanks for the tips!

i just found your comment in "spam". this is irritating.... and now it seems blogger is making peeps type two unreadable verifications. damn. maybe i do need to try disqus again.

lemme know if you enter the dress!

    2. ooh but let me add, and i will add it here so i don't have to squint over blogger's frigging new word captions, the bobbin tension could be too tight/loose. i adjusted mine the teeniest bit and suddenly all my tension woes were gone. i'll throw the links up here for anyone looking:

  16. Anything? Even chocolate, hmmm... If that's your next ODI! Then I'm going to die. A chocolate dress would be so much cooler than a meat dress any day. Though either might be tricky in the heat. Happy Valentine's day!

  18. Is that because LA has bad traffic? YIKES! I didn't know you were moving to California? How long for and why for? And YAY!

    1. you will be AMAZED. go to your blogger dashboard, and click the dropdown arrow on "post list" (it's the icon to the right of the orange "new post" button). then select "stats". now, on the left side menu, select "traffic sources", and scroll down to see what keyword searches have led peeps to you. there's a bunch of other great info there too :)

  21. Hahahaha! I googled myself once, early on, to see what references came up -- if any. Apparently I have the same name as a not-unhandsome man currently in prison in England for committing confidence schemes. (Relief that he is not a violent offender. Slight disappointment -- very slight! -- that I don't rate my own notation.)

  22. My goodness, the comment-love is strong here!

And people wonder why we were so eager to leave the LA area? yeah, because my 3 mile commute took 20 minutes! And it took us 3 hours to leave "city" (as one friend said, its all the same strip mall).

Love the valentines day celebration. Tulip? chocolate? perfect. Me? I got to sleep in while Hubby took Peanut for a bit, it was glorious. Funny how the gifts change. :P

  23. I get the most traffic from people looking for Shel Silverstein, lol. I post a poem of his on that poetry day every year. As for your pointy bits (ooer!) I have had great success with lemon juice. And just today, I read this post all about dis here issue: http://www.curlynikki.com/2012/02/soften-hyperpigmentation-naturally.html

  24. DAAAAAAAAAAAAAA BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRDDDDDDDDDD.

Excellent presents, both of you. There is so much sunshine in this picture, I'm all choked up with envy. I hope you are enjoying sunny California!

And searching for Richard Armitage brings all the peeps to my blog. Seriously. At least 40 hits a week. Which is ok, since he's a total fox... and as long as people are googling him, that means he'll get work because he's still got that sex appeal, which is good for me, because I need to watch him in everything. Like the Hobbit. He sings. I almost wept during the preview.

    Happy Valentine's Day!
