HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!

to big daddy,  the man who taught me to belly up to the bar and order a black satin (half guinness, half champagne), i give you the stout float, courtesy of bon appetit's happy hour series, found through the lovely lexi.

  1. Not that it's for me to ever dis an alcoholic beverage, but I can't stomach that black satin combo. There has to be some kind of sum greater than its parts thing going on. Cuz I know you only drink the good drinks.

    1. the parts make it, girl. i would not steer you wrong.... but ruggy is fond of telling me "if you ordered that in a real irish pub, they would punch you in the face."

  3. I saw the photo and without even reading thought; I must tell Oona about a stout float. Your post will make my beer-nerd boyfriend very happy; it's his favourite pudding.

  5. Hi Oona!

Thank you for the happy Father's Day wishes and the STOUT FLOAT recipe! I haven't tried it yet but I'm going to make it with my favorite IPA -- Dubhe Imperial Black IPA.

And you know I always make my own home-made-secret-recipe cocoa syrup for our cold winter night in front of the fire hot cocoa, so this recipe is going to be AWESOME!

I'll try not to drink all of the Dubhe before September. See you on the patio!

PS Ruggy is probably right about getting punched in the face in a real Irish pub for ordering a Black Satin. I was first introduced to the combination by a certain English friend of ours. ;)
