WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE

from your hosts, oona and ruggy, we're GIDDY over the party fabulousness flying in to our concrete jungle from around the globe!  well, i'm giddy, ruggy is quite manly.

we all sang happy birthday to party guest lisette, who celebrates today in a frock of many colors... there's already much drunken behavior going on.  a certain someone brought a teepee, another party hound (in a dress; NOT a frock) brought some seriously good vodka, and, erm, one chickie brought some felines.

to make matters worse, the band in a box is not behaving.  this could get wild.

i'm off to pour more drinks and welcome more guests!  this is an all nighter!

Toferet has a pretty dress too, can I join with my handmade apron? It's got sequins on it. :)

  18. (I would have sent this as a private email had I seen an address.)

I've been reading your contributions to the Sew Weekly and enjoyed them. I do have to say one thing, however. I find it odd that anyone, much less someone with apparently some African heritage, would spell the word "clan" with a "k." There are obvious historical connotations to that spelling. I even checked on Google to see if there was some usage with which I was unfamiliar. But sure enough the group I thought that would come up did.

It's one thing to be lighthearted and whimsical, it's another to be ignorant of history.

  19. Knock knock! Thought I'd stop lurking around your fabulous blog and introduce myself/come by as an unexpected party guest... so happy birthday! I would come bearing homemade cookies, because cookies are always good at a party. Carrot cake cookies and blueberry lemon bars, maybe? Either of those sound good?

Hope you're having a fabulous weekend!

  23. Happy Birthday! and so wonderful to see Ruggy, too! Perhaps I will show up late Sunday morning in my pjs--I'll bring a hot plate of buttermilk pancakes. I might have to tiptoe after all this ruckus?

  25. I AM ENJOYING THESE POSTS SO MUCH! thanks for:
    coming to the fray
    birthday wishing
and bringing booze if you couldn't!

~ saro: sequined aprons are most definitely acceptable. what else would one mix a cocktail in?

~ anonymous: well, m'lady (or gent; je ne sais pas?) "k"lan is a visually alliterative play on the word "k"alkatroona. both words are fictional. there are plenty of real words that offend peeps; for example, "picnic". i ain't gonna stop picnicking. i'm glad you like my oona does it! posts, but be warned; i'm louder and more abrasive over here in my own home of kalkatroona. and although your comment is thoughtful, calling me ignorant on my actual day of birth isn't really the way to persuade me to change my wee profile blurb.

~ amy: holy shit. BUTTERMILK PANCAKES. aaaaaaaaggwwwaaaah. what time can i expect you? i'll make bellinis!
